Why would you sell your home just to have another one I don’t understand it a home is a home why get rid of one to go Go and find another one and put even more money into that than what you had into the first one how about saving a little money for a rainy day or better yet just having money in the bank account and maybe someday you might want to go on a trip or do something I just don’t understand how people can spend money like it’s water

Very low quality houses with outrageously high prices in Austin, a developing city with limited conventional resources. Looks like the sellers have lost touch with reality. The entire reasoning is that some companies are going to move here, and prices have already reached the best California neighborhoods which are very well developed neighborhoods with significantly lower property tax, considerably higher job security, and better weather …

And this is exactly why I won’t sell my house. Yes, I could clear about $210k profit in this inflated market but I would also have to buy another house in that same inflated market. One of these days the bubble is going to burst and what would I have? A house I paid huge money to get into that plummeted in value a few years after I got it. This that and the other thing
If that house #2 was in L.A at $430,000 its a bargain. That house here would have sold for at least $800,000+ in a decent neighborhood. Home #3 easily $1.2 million here. Home prices here are disgusting.

This is how it is in so many countries at the moment, house supply is low, demand is high. As long as credit is available, so too will house prices continue to climb. There'll be no recession when you can keep on dishing out credit. Because credit means profit for banks.

Curative Finance - Yolanda Baker
We live in north Austin, in the suburbs. For the past three years, we've received at least two calls a day asking if we're interested in selling our home. Two years ago, it was usually Texas realtors calling. Now, every caller has an accent, probably India or the Far East. Also, we get at least five postcards and/or letters a week asking if we'd like to sell. We think this is a bubble and will pop soon. If we wanted to sell, we would have done so already, and purchased a home with a nice plot of land out in the country. I don't know what these people were thinking, selling their home without a list of several other homes they were interested in buying. Perhaps that would have stopped them. Pflugerville is for people who can't afford a house in Austin. I wish these people thought about the consequences of their actions!
Tom W
Tom W 8 ditë më parë
Unless you plan to buy in a cheaper area or downsize it really doesn’t matter how much money you get for your house. You make more on your house in a hot market you pay more for the next one. The people truly making out like bandits are the Californians moving to Texas. They’re getting double the house for less than half the price or better. Plus they’re lowering their taxes substantially and overall cost of living. Let’s say you live in the Bay Area and you’re moving to the North Dallas suburbs (Plano/Frisco area). You might sell your 1500 sq ft 2 bedroom home built in the 1960’s for about 2 million and then buy a 1 million dollar 5000+ sq foot home built in the last 5 years (or brand new build) with 4+ beds, top notch decor, beautifully landscaped backyard living space with pool, outdoor bar/kitchen and living space all while being able to send their kids to a top notch public school district and eliminating state income taxes. It’s completely insane how much those people can upgrade their life while simultaneously decreasing their living expenses immensely. And given how much cash they’re making from the sale of their absurdly priced CA matchbox house they think nothing of going 100k+ over asking when bidding on a new home. On top of that add in a building supply and housing shortage from COVID induced supply chain issues and you get these unprecedented housing market conditions. That’s what local Texans are up against looking to buy in this market. A huge amount of folks have simply been priced out of buying a home. Those people have no choice but to work on increasing income as well as saving at a faster pace than home values are appreciating to be able to buy a home here.

This story is dumb. The couple should have educated themselves (or if their realtor was any good, they should have as well) on the what was going on in the market before they sold their current home, but they "don't like waiting". Oh shut up. And writing a letter to the seller to say or see if they are also from Texas and can understand their plight? GTFOH. I don't feel bad for them. I was just in central Texas last week, and there is inventory to be had if you want a new build-some builders were discounting homes by $10,000 on TOP of giving incentives on closing costs up to $8,000. And these were homes UNDER that $250,000 magic price point for affordability. No bidding wars, no waiting lists, and this was in the ultra-hot corridor between San Antonio and Austin. Don't buy into all the hype by watching these lame clips about lame people making lame decisions lol, you can find a home if you really do your homework.

It’s idiots like this that are causing this market to be like this!!!! What’s the point of selling your home and excepting the highest offer if you have to turn around and put all of that money and then some on another home? Just because there’s a fear of missing out. Rent until the Market dies down. Something STUPID always happens. I just laugh at the people fretting over buying a house and laugh even harder at those that want to blame a particular political party, although if you follow the trends there always seems to be a Republican in the White House when things go bad.. (I'm wrong? Go Check) The ONLY people alive that haven't seen a downturn in the Real Estate Market during their lifetimes are 8 years old or so. The ONLY people that don't like what I'm saying are inexperienced Real Estate Agents that don't check Tea Leaves. Real Estate Agents need to save and invest their money just like everyone else should. It's been my experience that they rarely do. Thanks to Bush's Economy, I finally bought a house. in 2007 People were telling me I'd NEVER get into a house. 2021 "apparently" my house is worth almost twice what I paid for it at the end of 2014. My only regret is not checking in this area a year sooner because I would've had this place paid off!!! LOL! LOL! LOL!
